We’re seeking an experienced Head of Development to provide technical leadership to the software development team and ensure technical assurance and delivery across our flagship products. Accountable to the senior leadership team, this pivotal role will have responsibility for delivery of all technical products, working closely alongside leadership and product management to help refine and support the development of the product roadmap.
An experienced technologist with a strong background in architecting solutions and managing teams, you’ll support the development of the core team and refine the agile processes to ensure continuous improvement. You’ll develop a deep understanding of the technical architecture and bring well-rounded experience in agile delivery methods.
You’ll have strong knowledge of cloud infrastructure with experience of DevOps best practices and demonstrable experience of delivering systems hosted across the AWS stack.
What you'll do

Provide technical vision & direction to support our wider organisational strategy

Working with leadership and product management to:

Create clarity across the organisation around how the products and other technical developments serve the organisational strategy.

Ensure that product development strategy and road map are realistic

Ensure technical governance best practices are adhered to and maintained

Work with our operational teams to improve existing processes to better harness technology best practices to continually improve ways of working

Build our internal engineering capabilities incrementally to enable us to scale our product development

Collaborate with the extended team to help inform data metrics and strategies to maximise data-driven decision-making
What you'll bring

Managing software development teams, with a strong focus on coaching and mentoring

Agile coaching and development

Managing a complex development pipeline

Understanding complex business processes and translating these to a robust technical design that will scale and extend to match the needs of the product roadmap

Building and managing enterprise software on top of AWS (or another public cloud e.g. Azure)
-
.NET (C#, .NET Framework, .NET Core, MVC), Web APIs, and integration with external services.

Cloud application management using Azure DevOps (or similar)

Communicating efficiently and effectively with key stakeholders

Stakeholder management, including the ability to influence stakeholders and to effectively manage customer expectations

Working in a product focussed environment
Experience in/delivering to the UK public sector and/or CXM solutions would be the icing on the cake

We offer flexible working arrangements for everyone, in line with business needs. This role is primarily remote, although you must be able to attend our Oakham HQ as required (typically two days per month).
